university degree in economics, mathematical economics, or a closely related discipline,
good command of the field of microeconomics and econometrics,
attained Ph.D. degree an advantage,
ability to publish in scientific journals,
English proficiency.

PART-TIME IT SPECIALIST
CERGE-EI is a joint workplace of the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education of Charles University and the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. We combine top-level research and education across all areas of theoretical and empirical economics, including topics related to economic development and public policy.
Both experienced and beginner specialists are welcome. The prerequisite is an active interest in IT, a will to develop professionally and the ability to bring and implement new ideas.
We are a small team, where each individual is responsible for his/her primary agenda. However, it is also necessary to occasionally cover for colleagues and be ready to complement and collaborate with each other.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the administration of the computer network (primarily Windows 11, Apple Mac), printers, classrooms equipment.
- Installation and configuration of computers and user applications and related activities, regular user support and training.
- Participation in the administration of selected applications (antivirus, printing system, cameras, access control system, license servers, asset management, etc.) and partly in the administration of Windows servers.
- Communication with suppliers in the purchase of hardware, software and licenses.
- Responsibility for maintaining computer equipment property records.
- Collaboration on IT infrastructure development projects, cooperation on internal documentation and knowledgebase improvements.
What do we expect from you?
- High school/university education in a technical field (graduates are welcome).
- Ability to communicate with users in English (written and oral).
- General overview of IT.
- Knowledge of MS Windows 11, knowledge of Apple Mac environment.
- Knowledge of network environment, office software.
- Communication skills, independence, reliability.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, at least some of the following areas will be appreciated:
- Administration and development of the Apple Mac environment and all related issues;
- IT security and computer networks in general, backups agenda;
- Administration and development of Windows Server and Active Directory environments and related applications;
- Development of small support applications or scripts primarily related to infrastructure agendas.

We are hiring a Head of the Student Affairs Office to join our team. The successful candidate will manage study-related administration in an international academic environment and provide comprehensive support for our degree programs and students.
What will your role involve?
- Team Leadership & Development: You will manage the Student Affairs Office, set its priorities, and provide guidance and leadership to your colleagues.
- Strategic Academic Management: You will be responsible for the administration of Master’s and PhD programs, overseeing the entire student lifecycle from admissions to final state exams and thesis defenses.
- Student Support: You will coordinate and ensure comprehensive services, with a particular focus on international students (visas, residence permits, housing, and orientation days).
- Legislation & Process Improvement: You will ensure compliance with Charles University regulations while actively seeking ways to simplify and streamline administrative processes.
- Data Management (SIS): You will manage student information systems (SIS) and be responsible for accurate reporting and data integrity.
- Communication & Partnership: You will serve as the key point of contact for school leadership, faculty, and university bodies. You will also maintain essential documents, such as the CERGE Student Handbook.

- Education and Languages: A university degree and excellent proficiency in both Czech and English (you will use both languages for daily communication).
- Experience: Proven experience in team leadership, ideally within a student affairs office or academic administration.
