Distinguished Speakers
CERGE-EI is proud to have hosted many inspiring, distinguished guest speakers from around the world, including several Nobel Prize Laureates. Moreover, two Nobel Laureates in economics currently serve on CERGE-EI's Executive and Supervisory Committee.

 A very significant event, a discussion with Ms. Madeleine Albright, former United States Secretary of State, took place on October 21st, 2003, at CERGE-EI. The debate called "Current Issues in Euro-American Relations," organized by New York University in Prague and CERGE-EI was moderated by Mr. Michael Zantovsky, former Czech Ambassador to the US.  - Prof. James M. Buchanan Jr.- George Mason University

 In September 1991, Professor James Buchanan, discussed the "History and Origins of Public Choice Theory." He also gave a public lecture on "Constitutional Political Economy," which was attended by approximately 200 individuals, including members of the parliament of the CSFR, and officials from the ministries of the CSFR and the Czech Republic.

 In 2006, David Card was the keynote speaker at the annual conference of the European Association of Labor Economists at CERGE-EI.

 In May 2015, CERGE-EI hosted Nobel Laureate Angus Deaton at the Conference "International Comparison of Income, Prices, and Production".  2003 Nobel Prize Winner
 
 The Czech Economic Society and the Czech National Bank organized a seminar, "Downside Risk: Implications for Financial Management," featured by Robert F. Engle III, 2003 Nobel laureate (New York University). The seminar took place at CERGE-EI in March 2005.

 In 2001, CERGE-EI hosted Prof. James J. Heckman.
 - Prof. Alan Krueger- Princeton University 
 
 Alan B. Krueger is a CERGE-EI's Executive and Supervisory Committee member in memoriam. He contributed to CERGE-EI's success. In May 2012, Alan Krueger gave a public lecture "Reasons for Confidence in the US Economy."
 In 2021, when David Card was awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize, the Committee for the Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel wrote in the document Scientific Background on the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2021: "Another central researcher was Alan Krueger, who passed away in 2019; among other things, he co-authored a number of the early key studies with Card."  Prof. Finn E. Kydland visited CERGE-EI several times. In 2005, CERGE-EI, the Czech Economic Society, and the Czech National Bank organized a "Quantitative Aggregate Economics" seminar featured by Finn E. Kydland.
